I am Jeremy Hodgkinson. I lived in Crawley Down for 19 years and taught at the junior school there for 33 years.
Over the years I have gathered scraps of information about the history of the village, such as photographs, maps and documents, as well as talking to old residents of the village. Many people have asked me if I have written a history of the village, but while I have written articles in the past for the Crawley Down Residents’ Association’s newsletter, and given the occasional talk in the village, I have never put it all together. This collection of articles will make some of what I written available to a new generation of villagers and may encourage me to add some other material as well.
